On-Line Induction

Purpose

When a new employee starts in your organisation you have an opportunity to instil in them the purpose for which they are working. You have a matter of weeks to do this. If you do not they will determine their own purpose, or worse have no purpose at all. An induction programme is necessary to help new employees gain that sense of purpose.

Consistency

Off-line induction programmes can be good as the new employee gets shown the ropes by an experienced hand. Too often, however, the experienced hand passes on their learned bad habits and prejudices. In a significant proportion of cases the person responsible for inducting a new employee is not committed to the cause and the new employee learns their own mistakes. Either way the result is low productivity of the new employee.

Cost of Induction

  • Labour costs:
    • Employee
    • Induction trainer
  • Room cost
  • Materials cost
  • Induction training design costs
  • Disruption costs e/g. Rosteers

On-line induction has attendant costs too. However, judicious use of on-line induction can eliminate the labour and room costs involve and significantly reduce materials and disruption costs.

Assessment

Typically, with face-to-face induction training programmes, all that is assessed is attendance and whether the attendees liked and felt they benefited from the induction course. During probation period with a new employee it is important to know for their sake, the sake of their colleagues and of the organisation what they do and do not know.

On-line induction allows for easy testing of employee's knowledge and with more sophisticated testing, some skills

Compliance

Does your organisation have a Health and Safety Policy? An Harassment Policy? A Customer Service Charter and global standards of customer service? On-line induction and assessment makes it easy to prove that your employees have been trained in and have understood the implications of policies such as an Anti-Harassment Policy.

Control

Utilising Change Factory's on-line induction service allows you to stay in control through three options:

  1. You create the training, you "teach" the training and we host and administer the training
  2. You create the training, we "teach" the training and we host and administer the training
