In our experience, there are three arms to an Insurance organisation:
Typically, our clients have been good at tracking their financial metrics, but don't tend to have the same rigour on the investment side. So they are unaware of how efficient their business development process is, what their best channels are, their conversion rates and dollars per sale. As these metrics are usually not well defined, so they are unable to differentiate between a good salesperson and one that requires more coaching and training.
Underwriting is another area where good KPIs are required, to measure the ablility of staff to assess risk.
